Jackie and I actually met at the MAC counter and I am so glad that it worked out for me to do her makeup for her Bridals and Wedding party! She was truly the sweetest person to work with! I thought her story was so neat.... Her fiance and her met on Jdate (a jewish dating site). Her Bridal portrait was actually displayed on a digital billboard in Timesquare showcasing my Makeup..eeek!!! I am hoping to get a copy of that soon! Makeup Mondays: Bold Eyes

Welcome back Monday!!! Going along with last week's introduction to Makeup Mondays I wanted to feature this seasons trend of Bold "look at me" eyes!! There are lots of different ways to pull this off and be sure to select a color that is complimentary to your eye color!! The best/easiest way to do this is to either ask a professional or consult a color wheel!! I have included lots of pics on this one because I loved all of the diverse looks.. You can do a bold eye simply by using a pop of eyeliner or by going dramatic and covering the entire lid with a bright bold color!! I'm really loving this trend especially teal and orange shadows!!!

I really wanted to do this at the start of the new week to give some tips and tricks of all of the many new makeup trends this season!! I will be including some of my own opininons and experience/preferences as well!! I hope you all enjoy this, as my site is mostly used for showcasing my latest work!! I really wanted to make my blog a bit more interactive and have had several requests regarding makeup tips!! So here it is...comments/questions are welcome!! Thank you!!

Spring Trend 2011: BRIGHT LIPS

Don't be afraid of color this season!! There are so many options to choose from as well!! Whether you want to go with a fully pigmented lip to more of a sheer touch of color, the choice is yours!! My best reccomendation when going with a bright lip is to start with a lip primer. Primer is an essential product when using a pigmented lip to prolong the wear and seal in the color to prevent bleeding!! I am really loving my newest color that I recently picked up at the MAC counter.. "Girl about town!" Because it's so bold, I can do a softer eye (as pictured above).

**Tip** The Bold lip color trend paired with some dark oversized sunglasses is a must this season!!"

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to do a State Pageant for these lovely ladies who were competing in Miss teen and the Miss categories!! I have now done Avery's Makeup (pictured left) 3 times and am so pleased to say that she has won all 3 titles!!! Miss Anna, pictured right, is an outstanding girl that I just loved getting to know and am looking forward to working with more. We had a wonderful time getting ready together and she also placed 1st runner up!!! I am soooooo excited to share that I have been invited to go to Chicago with Avery at the end of July for the next phase of competition and I can't wait!! I will be her personal Makeup artist and will even be doing some hairstyling too!! I truly love what I do and am so grateful for the opportunities that have been made available to me!!

Nina's Wedding

Nina was actually a referral from my girls at the MAC counter!! Thank you so much we had such a great time together getting ready for her big day!! I have to just mention that I previously took a camera class from my friend Lindsay Hart who is a Photographer in the area. The goal for me was to improve my skills in order to be able to showcase the makeup application. I had already invested in the "nice" camera and was left feeling frustrated because I suppose my ignorant expectation was that the camera was just going to magically get the perfect shot for me everytime...not the case!! There is a great deal of "Art" that goes capturing that perfect picture much like the art that goes into creating that perfect look for the picture!! So thank you thank you for my new tips, they really payed off. I could tell a huge difference in how these headshots turned out!!

Nina was a beautiful bride...so calm and collected and just happy to be getting married to the man she loved!! Everyone was so fun and sweet and it was really a fun, smooth day!! Thanks Nina and Congratulations!!!

I hired my sister Abbey to be my assistant for last weeks pageant and I am soooo glad I did!! I had a total of 8 girls to do, coming in and out every 30 minutes. I knew I would be pushed if I had to clean brushes and everything myself so she came along and helped out a ton!! I am now thinking about having her come with me more often. We had a really smooth operation going!! We had a long, but fun day!! Thanks Abbey!!!

This Past Saturday I had the opportunity to meet some of the contestants of a couple upcoming local high school beauty pageants!! As part of my introduction/demonstration I did a full face makeup application and the beautiful Ms. Eliza was my volunteer!! We did a winged out eyeliner with a neutral eye, lashes and vibrant red lip! I think the look complimented her features and skintone well. I have been working at the MAC counter a lot lately!! In addition to doing makeup all day, I have the opportunity to meet some really sweet and fun people. This girl was a sweetheart, she was going out to celebrate her 23rd birthday and wanted a smokin hot look!! She was very pleased with the dramatic smokey eye/nude pink combo!! I just wanted to share the quick pic I snapped with my phone, she was soo pretty and nice too! I have had a blast working... we just wrapped up halloween. I got to do a bunch of fun looks for that!! I did Kelsey's Make-up last Wednesday for a beauty event we had at our church!! The girls wanted me to come at teach a class of some Spring beauty trends & I used Kelsey as the Model!! Bridgette's Wedding Day was yesterday at a beautiful Country Club where we spent the majority of the day getting her and her bridesmaids ready!! It was a fun day and I think everyone was pleased with the end results!! The bridesmaids, Mother-in-law, Mother, and of course can't forget most importantly the absolutely beautiful bride all looked gorgeous!!! I had a fun/neat experience working with a lady that did my hair for my wedding!!! What a small world! I didn't get a picture of everyone, but I will be getting more sent to me hopefully!!

New Makeup Look

My Sister Abbey went out the other night and asked me to her makeup!!! Of course I always love a chance to "play" with colors and create a great look!! She really wanted to try something different and more bold/colorful than her usual. I was excited for this! Abbey's skin is gorgeously clear and creamy and was an awesome canvas to work with! I decided to go with a really soft brown smoked out look on the lid, blended into a fuschia pink just peeking out over the lid and brushing the brow bone! We added a little of the darker color underneath for dramatic affect and Viola...! The end result was one beautiful sultry, but still age appropriate look!

Nude Lip/Smoky Eye

A Nude lip/Smoky Eye is a classic look that will be around for a while!! One of my fav's for sure!!! Great for day or night! You can play down a smoky eye and make a softer, lighter look for day and play up/intensify a smoky eye for night! A smoky eye is very versatile and can be achieved with a variety of color (not just greys and blacks)

A Nude Lip can be achieved in a few different ways as well. You may use just a neutral lip liner and clear gloss or liner, neutral lipstick, and gloss of choice for a more pigmented look!!

Tinted Moisturizer

Tinted Moisturizer is a must this season!! It is such a hot new product!! I have been using tinted moisturizer forever, but apparently it has just now become popular!! My absolute fav is Estee Lauder's spf 15. I know it's a shocker, (not MAC) but Estee Lauder's product for this is just amazing. It absolutely makes your skin glow and is great for the "Natural look." You really don't need to apply foundation over it if you don't want to, just add a little bronzer and some all over face powder and you will be ready for summer!!! May I add, it smells amazing and tints specifically to each individual skin tone!! You don't even have to pick out your shade, it does the work for you... and YES it really does work!! It runs around $36, but lasts for several months!!! LOVE IT!

Best Mascara EVER!!!!!

I love LASHES!!! If I am not wearing anything else on my face, Mascara is at least a must before I leave the house!! So, I feel that it is a worthwhile investment to have an amazing mascara that provides you with all of your lengthening, volumizing, seperating, curling, needs. Right?? :) Well, I have found the one!!!! Zoomlash by none other than MAC is by far the best mascara I have ever used!!! If you are like me (back in the day) and are still using that old pink and green maybelline tube.... throw itaway and go treat yourself to a REAL mascara!! You will be amazed at the difference!!!
